Didn't get the overflow piping done tonight but should be finished tomorrow.
I plane to put both my Jäger 300w eaters in the overflow once it's set up but for now I placed them on the back wall, set to 80.
I also added the Fx5, hanging the pipes over the back wall. This filter will not be on the tank long term but will use it to get things started.
I have a Malawi cichlid in my tank at home that has been getting picked on so I'm going to put him in the 200g to start the cycling process. Will add a few more this weekend.
Well I add my solo fish to the tank this morning, but I guess with all the work setting up the tank and traveling for a funeral last week I didn't notice that this fish has what appears to be bloat. I know there is debate on whether this is actually contagious but I am looking for advice on what needs to be done. unless petco or petsmart carries the correct medication I will not be able to get anything until Saturday when I am off work during the day, so unfortunately the fish may not make it. If he does not live, does the water still need to be treated?
Finished the plumbing, and it literally took me all day. I kept having issues with the sump over flowing when i did a mock power outage. I had drilled an air hole in the return for the wet/dry pump to stop water from returning but didnt think it was necessary on the eheim 2262, so everytime I turned everything off water would slowly flow back into the overflow box from the eheim. Since the water was being pulled through the return pipe inside the main part of the tank it would have slowly drained about 100g of water back into the wet/dry and my floor. But after an hour of going over the possibilities I figured it out(thankfully).
I also figured out how to get the canopy on by myself which was no small task since it weight like 50lbs and is awkward....good thing I compete in strongman, haha
Tomorrow I am going to add the lights, start setting up the rocks/wood, and begin the fun task of painting the back of the tank while it's setup 4" from the wall. I would move the heaters into the overflow but I dont want to move them until I am absolutely certain the water level will stay high enough.
