alright cool ill prolly stay away from live food then cause i dont wanna risk him\her getting sick over live food when it couldve been avoided in the first place i got frozen mice and pinkies for my snakes i guess when he gets bigger ill see if he likes pinkies if not ill just stick to hikari and nls,and im about to start using repashy so im sure he will be eating that as well

If you're wanting to get the flowerhorn's "kok" (their dome) to get big, I've been told that feeding live feeders works and that it's all in the genetics of the fish. I'm not quite leaning towards the live foods, but my classic kamfa's dome is getting there and I've been mainly feeding Hikari Massivore, Hikari Jumbo Carnisticks, and NLS when it was smaller. It seems to bring out their colors.

You could avoid the fish getting sick by quarantining the feeders. IMO it's just more work and most of the feeders will end up dying because they were already diseased to begin with. I'm sure it'll eat the repashy. Not too sure about the pinkies though. Mine was hesitant to try out the pinkies but ended up eating one.

If it's just a treat every now and then, I don't see much of a problem especially since you know the fry are being raised in good conditions.

No problem. I'm sure other people would've chimed in on this, but it's quite late.

Other way around. They bully him because all of them are much larger, but recently, he's been stepping up. I have yet to catch a good video of him flaring up against one of my bass that are twice his size if not more. There's pics and some videos on my thread if you want to see him.

I also had another flowerhorn that was sold to me as a classic kamfa, but I don't think it was. It was really passive and the two didn't bother with each other. They did kill two jaguar fry though. I gave away the other kamfa and supposedly it's in a tank with another flowerhorn that is much larger than it. From what I've heard, the two are doing fine and have no aggression problems.

Petsmart recently started carrying Classic Kamfa Flowerhorns a few months back. They are bright, but they will change as they get older. Petsmart is also a reputable, but I'd rather go to a LFS because I'd rather not pay $35 for a 2-3" flowerhorn. I've seen a few Petsmart keep multiple flowerhorns and I always get a kick out of looking at the tank to see either a few dead ones or a couple that are torn up.

The two I had actually came from Petsmart when they first started selling them. It was sold to me as a Jaguar cichlid that was on sale. The two I had were also brightly colored and somewhat yellowish. After they hit the 4" mark, they started to get their color. One was red and greenish blue, the other was just greenish blue.

Flowerhorn at petco or petsmart is low quality flowerhorn. You don't get much out of that FH so don't get your hopes up haha. If you want a a decent quality FH go on the FH forum. There's a seller out in Cali that gets nice looking FH for a good price. Or his up mike like mistahoo pointed out. He has a good stock for cheap and he's in town.

They are low quality. I like mine though lol. He's looking for a 2-3" one. Usually the people who make them, try to sell off the large product
