Just a API strip kit, dip in for 5 seconds and then compare to a chart, only thing my fish shop carries

Strips are notorious for being inaccurate. The first time you can afford one, get yourself a test kit which uses liquid reagents. Read the test directions carefully when performing tests and follow directions to the letter. I'd like to see your test results with an accurate kit.

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.

What city in the United Kingdome are you in? I have family 20 min. from silverstone....
The test strip kits can give you a good place to start looking but can't give as accurate reading as a master kit.
Not sure what they put in the water there to make it safe for people but that makes it unsafe for your fish. Do you use the tetra water safe? for water changes? If you did not the water was recycling. the chlorine will kill the bacteria and the tank will recycle. giving you cloudy water. We have seen people on this site forget and not add it...
You are a little bit to far away to come look and do a test...But would love to see the UK....
