  • White spot help

    I have some clown loaches and they have just developed white spot :(, i know how to treat it but i have a black ghost knife and shrimps, i heard such treatments harm them? What should i do???

    Pull the affected fish, place in a hospital tank asap, treat from there.

      I dont have another tank, its on my to buy list, is there anyway i can medicate this without killing fish? What temp should i turn up to??

        A hospital tank is a good investment, to avoid treating the entire tank. Petco has their dollar/gal sale right now, if you didn't know.

        Turn temp to mid-hi 80s.

          I dont have petco over here in the UK, il turn the temp up now, thanks!, anythin else i could do? Can i use white spot treatment?

            Treating the entire tank is not a bad idea...

            Be sure to add some epsom salt & increase aeration too.

              Raise temps in the tank to mid 80's like said and add aquarium salt to the tank that works as well from what I've read

                  You can put to much but use 2 table spoons pr. g. and the pleco.s will be fine.

                    Okay great, i cant get to my local fish shop until wednesday, i have white spot medication though, will it harm my other fish and do i have to take out the carbon/biomax in my filter?

                      the ich meds will burn the loaches as well as the ghost knife, and possibly kill the shrimps. these fish have no scales to protect them. turn up the temp to 86 and add a half dose of salt.
                      my fish house:
                      2.5g- ramshorn hatchery
                      6g eclipse- yellow shrimp, chili rasboras, yellow apple snails
                      29g- geo grow-out, angels, 12"fire eel, dwarf frog, apple snails
                      45g- jade sleeper gobies, native killifish, feeder endlers

                      75g-
                      2 oscars, parrot, silver dollars, albino channel cat, syno euptera, bichir, baby jaguar, convicts, yabby
                      125g- fahaka puffer, rainbow shark
                      and about a dozen bettas....

                        Temp turned up, i cant get aquarium salt until wednesday though, im worried about my fish
