My big tank I can do 85% water change if I use both containers but even 50% takes both. So the drum only gets use for the big tank.
The last time I got prim for my water it was about $9.00. Don't remember how long that lasts but it wasn't that long. As the years slip away I am sure the containers and pump have paied for them selfs....
True. After so many years they will pay for themselves. Thing is, a 65g drum would only do about a 60% water change for my tank and I like to do 100% water changes but drain and refill more water after that 100% water change. Nothing wrong with the idea. I'm actually planning on going with it in the future but with very large water containers. Safe doesn't cost that much ($25ish?) for enough to change out 200,000 gallons (or so the container says). For now, I'll go with the Safe.

I use safe and it's very cost effective. Sunny was the one who got me using it. I normally drain my tank 95% then add water and immediately add half of the treatment. When tank is half full I add the rest and never have problems. Does dissolve in the water.

And I don't see the point in using prime to dechlorinate the purigen. Why not just add some water to safe?

amquel. I like the fact that it also detoxifies nitrate. always thought that was the whole point of changing water. it lasts me a long time for the price, and although it is smelly, it seems to dissipate quickly. question, does safe have a odor?

I'm thinking I may try to use half amquel and half safe.

I wouldn't recommend that use one or the other you never know what will react with what.

I guess there's 3 types of AmQuel then. I found AmQuel, AmQuel+, and AmQuel+ Plus. I'm using whatever Petsmart is selling in the 1 gallon jug.
