I was talking to Rachel (msjinkzd) last week and she gave me some tips on using Repashy fish foods.
1. If you reheat it after it sets it will re-liquify and harden again when it cools, so if it sets too quick the first time you can try again.
2. You can take small pieces of mopani wood or coarse rock and dip it in the hot Repashy. After it sets you can keep the coated pieces in the refrigerator and drop in the tank when it's time to feed. I found this very useful for the gobies and hillstreams.
3. The first time I used it I tried pouring into plastic ice cube trays. It set too quickly and the ones that did mold correctly were too big for a single feeding and had to be sliced down to smaller sizes. Now I use a cookie sheet with a layer of saran wrap on it. When I take the hot Repashy out of the microwave I pour onto the saran wrap, let it set then cut the 1/8" thick sheet into the size pieces I want with a butter knife.
4. I freeze a week's worth in individual freezer baggies and thaw when needed.
Just some tips I've found useful. Feel free to share any you've come up with. I think this Repashy is the next new innovation in our hobby... on the order of wet/dry filters when they first came out.
