  • Couple questions :)

Well im just wondering how quickly black ghost knifes grow? Iv had mine for around 3 weeks now and its grown around 4 inches allready :O, also id like to know if somebody can tell me what type of neon this is?

Hes twice the size of any neon tetra iv seen before

The max size of a captive black ghost knife isnt all that big compared to other knives, the ones i have had never got over 10 inches total. that is a strange growth rate.

i dont see a neon in this pic, i see a chinese sucking loach and what is possibly an austalian rainbowfish?

maybe a clearer pic would help narrow it down, the nice thing is that if you paid neon prices for a rainbowfish then you should go back and buy more lol

My guess is a female neon swordtail...

Black ghosts can get very sizable, but in most tanks they reach about 10" or so. As they grow they do become far more aggressive hunters and less tolerant. I would recommend in a community tank that it was at least 75 gallons and even that would limit the fish.

Seems to be some trouble with the picture loading, but I'm fairly positive it is a Female Neon Swordtail, (Xiphophorus Helleri) a livebearer.

Where'd you pick that up? You should get some more if you're paying neon prices!

The other fish in the picture is a Bala Shark (Sharkminnow) and the other is a Female Neon Swordtail (i assume as poecilids are exceedingly hybridized they can be difficult to identify absolutely, but the 'neon' part certainly fits and the online pics are nearly identical)
