  • How to get nls 1mm to sink?

Hey guys I use an eheim automatic feeder and whenever I put nls 1mm in there it won't sink and just gets sucked into the overflow. I've tried pointing the flow at the food and it kind of works but there are still some pellets that go into the overflow any tips?

    Are they sinking pellets?

I have some "sinking pellets" that float better than "floating pellets". Totally know where you're coming from with this question as I have the same problem & have tried the same solution.

Easy fix is to get a breeder box from haw or city pets. Cut the bottom out and hang it to the tank

Or a plastic bottle. More readily available and doesn't cost $5. Just cut off the top and bottom. Poke a hole and then stick a suction cup in it.

nice design mistahoo the breeder box is more appealing to the eye than the bottle though

Not quite. You can't position the breeder box to become invisible but you can position the water bottle to be. Did you see how Sunny had his auto feeder setup on the 135's? He had some plastic container, but I didn't even know it was there until he pointed it out and you had to look at it at a good angle.

that plastic container is a plastic box cut short and just enough room for the food to fall into, i got the same design in my tanks.

Yup. Same idea with the bottle. Cut it short enough and it'll be hidden.

I did, but now I don't use an auto feeder so no need for it. I find it hard to gauge 4.5mm and 10mm pellets in an auto feeder. It just doesn't work out well. Either jams, lets out nothing, or lets out way too much. I find they're much better suited for 3mm and under.

Kiko used a water bottle as well (I think?) when he had trophs. You could also cut off just the bottom and leave the top portion that way it acts like a funnel.

I've tried using one of those feeder rings but the flow from my powerheads and outlets just make it fall I'll try using a stronger suction cup and use the bottle/box method thanks guys

If you have glass tops or even eggcrate you could add a plastic bottle/box easily without having to add a suction cup. Just allow enough space towards the back of the opening on your tank and then wedge the top against it.

I don't think the box or bottle can handle how my petros be attacking the spot where my feeder drop food!!! I think it would hurt them more than do any good. Hahahah

Attach foam to the bottom of the box or bottle. It's like baby proofing things!
