I was sitting next to the tank and I started hearing a knocking sound i look over and I don't see anything and the noise stops. It started 10 min. later and the sound was back. I looked over and every time it made a knocking sound i saw a small spark on one of the coils. It is only as old as the tank maybe 2 months.

Hmm, perhaps that could explain your heating issue in the tank. You could try and get a replacement from them, but I usually end up going with an Eheim Jager as they are the best I have seen and I trust them to act right.In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

I just posted in the other thread about his too. It could be the issue. Ill go and take it back and see if I can exchange and pay the difference for something better.A wife, two kids and two cats.Comment

They just don't make heaters the same as the use to anymore!!! The seal seems like it just comes out and water gets in over a period of time.Comment

Damm I traded (under warranty) 3-200 watt marinelands, last year at Petsmart. Same heater they just put a fancy dial and a red light on them. They gave me a hard time but i pressed and they did the right thing. Those old heaters were known to blow up tanks BIG TIME.
This has me a little nervous. Just don't have the money for the Via Aquas right now.
If a heater is making noise I would get it out NOW. Make them warranty it and get a different brand. good luck...200
