  • Auto feeder and eels

I am very aware of an eels capability of escaping from the smallest holes at the top of a tank but majority of the stories I hear about are in regards to opens around the glass edge. I was thinking of using acrylic to cover the top of my tank and then drilling a small hole, 1-2", 4-5" away from the front wall so I can install an auto feeder for pellet food. Curious if anyone has tried anything like this before? If it makes a difference I was planning on getting a Tanganyikan eel which is much shorter than most other FW eels.

maybe try using a screen large enough for the pellets but small enough to stop the eels from escaping?

I have read many accounts of different Mactecembelids being escape artists, but from my own experiance with a few of the smaller variety they never seemed interested and never succeded with a normal light/top combo. Most of the Tang eels are generally sessile and are smaller then the larger Mastecembelids I often read about (Fire, Tire tracks) so I imagine you should be fine.
