Where in Texas have people successfully collected mollies?

This shows the collection site for Poecilia latipinna and Poecilia formosa around San Antonio

I know you can catch some locally in the bayous around Houston. I think there was an HLA function that did this not too long ago.
    Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

I have found them in the ditches, tide pools and other waterways near Quintana beach in Freeport. The salinity varies to fresh to hypersaline in this area.
I have also found them in Braes Bayou, near 610 and N. Braeswood Blvd.

If its got 6" of water in in, its probobly got mollies in it.
I've had luck with minnow traps from Academy, or a casting net.  But if you can get a small group and a drag net you'll have great success.
P.S.  You need a current Texas Fishing licence unless you are in a State Park.   So checkout all the local state parks.
'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

That's almost exactly what I was going to say! When looking for mollies, check for blue flashes under the water...that's usually one of the big male's sailfins or tails flashing in the sunlight.  :)

Guppymax and I went on a "safari" last September, here's a thread about the mollies I took home:

We went to Eleanor Tinsley Park, right around downtown, and fished in the bayou. Saw some pretty huge plecos, too!

I'm most interested in Poecilia latipinna and Poecilia formosa.
