Which background?

I've heard of the privacy window films being used as backgrounds as an alternative to painting and the generic plastic background that you need to tape. I'm gonna try it since it sticks straight to the glass, but question is... Black or frosted? Which should I get?

Black to hide equipment, frosted for the clean look if using glassware

I plan to add a diy overflow which will be made of plastic from drawers. Frosted will somewhat hide it. If I go with black, I can just as easily paint the diy overflow black. Equipment will sit inside of it.

Use acrylic boxes from the container store, or mame

I want it to hide the equipment though. It's for the nano tank so water won't be going anywhere but back into the tank from the box.

Frosted= Ridiculously expensive compared to spray paint. I bought the film from HD and it was like 40 for a whole roll they dont sell it in small size

$40? It says $20.67. Both are a 4ft x 6.5ft roll. I'll have a ton left over after and I'll be able to use it on other tanks. Price between the two isn't an issue. Just the color. I like the idea of the frosted back, but I've always painted the back of my tanks black. I like both, but I don't know what to choose.

I painted the back of the 100gal for about $10 and a back of a 36gal for $3. Spray paint and acrylic paint are cheap. I just wanted to try out this stuff to see how it is. Seems like it'd be a great alternative because it's easy to apply and removal is just pulling it off.

Thought so. When I was looking around I found nothing but the big rolls are they were about $120... Took a while to find the small ones

I say frosted....thats something no can of paint can do....you've already had black backgrounds. And I think it looks pretty cool.

That's the reason I was thinking of getting it. I'll probably get frosted for now and get the black one later

I'll be getting a roll of frosted to match my overflow on Friday
