  • Energy consumption from aquariums

I'm guessing my two aquariums use about $65 a month. That's $780 a year. Gaw Lee! Fish cost more that my 3 dogs. That's not including fish food, charcoal, chemicals and such. This number is a total of my daily usage from the past week through Reliant paying .98 a kilowatt.

    Aquariums

240 gallon with 55 gallon sump
    100 gallon

    How about ya???

I reckon about $80 per month for electron agitation for my 450, 210, 135, 29, 20 and 2x 10. All in all, it's way cheaper than smoking tobacco/crack

It's really not too bad, really depends on brand of equipment and lighting.

My 55g Ikola tank is right around 3-4 bucks a month. All its equipment is pretty efficient, koralias, eheim canisters and diy led spotlights. Total under 100w/day since it has no heater.

My 40g salty talk is pushing closer to 500w/day so thats around 15.00/month to run.

My breeding corner of the house has a 55g, 2x 40g, and a 20g. Each tank with sponge filters and a penguin 350 hob and lower watt led spotlights... I can't see all those tanks being any more than 300/w combined. 7.00/month

Looks like I'm paying around 25/month on just electricity. Not bad really. I feel bad for you people with 500+ gal in tanks and in a house where you have to pay your own water bill... now thats where the bill adds up im sure
