Mike can get them, I think! I would call him to make sure though! The one in his tank is kinda mean to the others...it likes to nibble on bodies...lol!
Got him home tonight and I am completely sucked into his incredible personality already.
dblondfemme - thank you sooooo much for all the info on this guy! I was worried when I read about him being a herbivore, but glad you confirmed that this is not true. I don't think the woman who owned him before my cousin fed him much more than pellets. He will get much more variety in his diet here. He's already sucking at the top of the tank when we walk by. We named him Dexter...short for Poindexter because his mouth reminds me of the main nerd from Revenge of the Nerds for some reason. He's about 10" now....how much bigger should I expect him to get??

Info on Semaprochilodus taeniurus (Silver prochilodus)
On that webpage, it implies 10" is the max or average.
I would say if you have him in a tank over 75 he could possibly get a bit bigger, but he is prob at his happy size ;-)
Mine has colored up nicely because of bloodworms. I find little actually no aggression in mine. I believe it would be harder if there were several of these considering little is known about breeding habits. However, mine does great with baby angels. I think if he is in a tank with non aggressive fish that have substantial size to them, they should be okay.
I would just like to say that for each person, their experience will be different. With a lot of things it can be trial and error. Best of luck and enjoy Dexter!!!

Thanks again for all the info! I know what I'll be doing tomorrow! Reading up on Dexter...I'm sure not going to be leaving the house on 'Black Friday'...unless of course it's to go up to FRII.
My husband said he read that you had been at the HAS auction...we were there too. I wonder if we walked right past each other and didn't even know it!
Also...are ALL fishgeeks nocturnal?

lol I was kid sitting for some fellow fish people so they could go out shopping. He finally crashed about an hour ago. Now I can't sleep lmao.
At the auction I was number 51 lol. I ended up walking out with two boxes and a bag. I'm relatively new on here, but I love the company
