looks like i have the Brachygobius xanthozona. perfect unbroken black stripes and is best suited for brackish, but will tolerate fresh water much better than the other type.

WOW! check out this plant growth!

speaking of the stuff... I got it from aquadise and it was supposed to be "egeria" but i don't really know. I only know egeria densa and it doesnt have a piney structure like this.

the first pic is a crop of the pic i posted 3 days ago. 2nd i took tongiht. Its going nuts!

no water level change, and i haven't moved anything!

Not to burst your bubble but it's reaching for light.....the stem is also getting pretty leggy.

yes, i know i need to cut the bottom of the stem off, but you are saying that's all "reach" for the light?

the left and middle pieces look completely different

Re: Please check my fish combination/setup.

When there is not enough light to reach the bottom the stems become "leggy" meaning more stem in between the leaves...also the leaves at the bottom will die off due to the shading of the upper leaves.

Just saw that the plant you have showing is suppose to be egeria......which is anachris if I'm not mistaken.....and that looks nothing like the anachris....

Aquadise is good about substituting plants.

yea, I'm not sure what it is, but it poked it's head out of the water yesterday.

Aquadise is long gone. It's probably been about 3 weeks now. One day all of his auctions were just gone.

yea yea, I guess i should start figuring out how big to build the canopy. 45g with 5 times lighting. so i need about 200 watts?

Depending on what type of lighting you plan on going with....if you want it to me a low-slight med light tank I would try to double what you have. It being as tall as it is light penetration is a lot worse then if you had the same lighting on a long but shorter tank.

Re: Please check my fish combination/setup.

Well, right now you've got 80W over a 45...I think you said that you were going to get different lighting? What were you thinking about? Sorry if you posted this earlier, but could you post the width of the tank?

Your plants should be okay for right now, that's enough light to keep them going. If you really want to see them go crazy, though, think about a little more light. (Like everyone else said.)

Hmm...Can you possibly take a picture from the top of those "egerias?" I think I might know what you have, but I'm not sure... But they look like they're growing to me!

Here's a closeup of the "egeria" along with some duckweed and a few pieces of uprooted HC.

                            The tank is 12(wide)x36(long)x24(high)

I'm going to build a canopy based off of how much room i'll need to fit the lights. Leprae showed me this site http://ahsupply.com/

                              For all your lighting needs!

I definitely recommend it, and I know quite a few other people who do as well.
