    Re: HAS Auction

The biggest pain with working at an auction is that you don't get a chance to meet and visit.....

We should all have had HFB hats, or shirts or at least nametags
'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

      Re: HAS Auction

This is the 1st time that I did not spend more then I made.
But I still manage to bring home some fish that I did not need.

It was good to see some old as well as new friends at the same place.

        Re: HAS Auction

I agree with the HFB tags or something. I was wearing a white ****e with horz stripes. I sat front row, stage left, inside aisle seat for most of the last half of the auction. Walter I spent more than I made. I was wishing I had some tanks running. (glad I don't) I would have bought some fish then.

That's a good idea about name tags. I was actually thinking that myself yesterday. I have a feeling we will have them available at the next auction.
I bought some dahhling ceramic castles - do I hear groans.  Hey, my fish don't care.

            Re: HAS Auction

I brought all kinds of goodies, but I won't be bringing Cyprichromis Lept. to the auctions for a while.  They sold for $13 and $9 for the 2 reverse trios I brought!  These were 3.5".  I will probably attempt again in a year or so.  I wasn't looking for a profit, but I put some work into these guys.  They are breeding like mad now.  Now if I can only get my Paracyp fry to live past 1 month.

I did find some good deals as well.  The auction was once again a success!

              Re: HAS Auction

Well, if I had known what they were I would have definitely bid on them! I just looked up a picture of them and those are awesome! I think before the next auction we should meet here and post what we are bringing. Then we can look everything up and decide what we like.

I bought some Cyprichromis. Don't know if they were yours. I couldn't pass them up at the price. Auctioneer's privelege, I suppose.

Adiemus, are those fish the same as the one in your pic rubyred2? I think that is the prettiest little fish! I saved the pic when I first saw it, I love the blue fins and forehead. When I look them up online, they always have the yellow. I really like the blue-only type. If it is the same fish, I definately understand your being upset at the low prices for such gorgeous fish!

Maybe for the next auction the forums and clubs could print out some labels/nametags with their logo's and have them at the registration desk, or maybe just a small table close to the registration area? That is provided it's okay with HAS.  Folks could just pick up their label(s) and add their name and forum ID if they wanted to.  I know some of you would probably be plastered from head toe with affiliations.

                      Re: HAS Auction

I'm just pouting that every time I try to buy a cyprichromis they were EXPENSIVE.  Now the one time I sell some they went cheaper than Yellow Lab fry!  Please... someone pass me some cheese!

Ellen,  Yes those are the fish.  Most Cyprichromis Variants carry the Yellow and Blue tail gene.  Even if you have all blue Cyps, your offspring could have yellow tails.  I have seen more yellow tails than blue, so I guess we know which is the dominant gene :)

Charles, did you get the bag of fry or the adults?  I missed the bag of fry.  I don't remember the variant.  I think those were jumbos.  I wanted to see what they went for.  Seriously Charles, great job!  That was a long auction.

Houstonfishbox,  Sorry, I probably won't have anymore ready until next spring.  I might have a few ready for the fall, but I would have to do extra water changes... yuck!  I have a few Cyprichromis Lept. Blue Flash fry... but I have mostly moved on to Cyprichromis Lept. Utinta http://images.google.com/images?hl=e...ta&sa=N&tab=wi .  The Cyprichromis Jumbo Kitumbas won't be breeding for while still.

I never thought that a pleco would be my favorite fish from the auction, but I got a marbled pleco that is awesome! Whoever brought that, Thanks!!

I got some great fish at the auction. The best one was a large Black Calvus.
