i believe that the green looking bag is the coarsest, the blue one is the finer white sand i believe

Looks perfect! Looks a lot coarser than the sandblasting stuff.

Are you talking about the PFS? Is it tan?

            that's what I believe he's talking about,

I didn't notice a green bag but it could have been.

I know one was blue bag/white lettering and the other was white bag/blue lettering. Those are the two I've dealt with.

I've seen others use it but never came across it myself so I didn't comment on it.

my lpfs has a white bag with a green label this is the bag that is the darker sand. Sorry i didnt mean a green bag completely just the one with the green label and white lettering. The other one like ek said is the blue label white lettering which is the lighter sand at my lpfs

It could have been green lettering on mine as well... it looks more like an aqua-blue... either way, same bag. LoL

if you're going to stick with low light plants use pfs as they don't need all the nutrients from the aquasoil

so guys can you use pfs as a substrate i never knew this? it would be much cheaper then gling 7 bags of flourite?

Also why is it so expensive to grow medium plants thats what i plan on doing with co2 on my first planted tNk

                          cheers

Yes you can use any substrate you like with plants. As long as it holds nutrients and if it doesn't you can always put root tabs into the substrate. It's not that expensive if you buy used lights or used co2 setups.

is it much cheaper then flourite? if so i might go half of each if not all pfs of i can because i have a large tank and its expensive to stock it with things

                              cheers

IMO capping off is just ridiculous. It's gonna get all mixed up and messy. Either mix them to get a look you want or just stick with one. I'm leaning towards the Estes sand Ek mentioned. Did a quick search and found 30lbs for $18. Much more expensive than PFS which is about $10 for a 50lb bag. PFS is definitely cheaper than Flourite over here. Not quite sure of the prices of stuff over in Australia.
