It depends on your preference on being able to see a slaughter or constantly having your fish full. When I had them, I would catch mosquito fish by the hundreds and dump them in the tank. At first it was fun to watch them go through a dozen or so, but after that I hardly ever got to see them eat because they would just slurp one or two up when they were hungry. So I got a tank for the mosquito fish and whenever I wanted a show (which was everyday) I would drop a few in there and watch them go to work.

They are still very small. I would feed every day. They will get big faster.

          Re: feeding bass

Feed 6 days a week and give them a day to fast so they don't get constipated. Maybe 2-3 fish? Honestly, if you can get them pellet trained, they'll be healthier and more aggressive when time comes where you want them to chase down fish. Plus they'll grow larger and faster without chances of disease and parasites transferring over to them

            Re: feeding bass

that's my next step. I didn't want to make them go through too much right off. I already have a spotted gar eating pellets.

I would avoid "feeders" like the plague unless you are q-ting them and gut loading them.

Most of the time you get away with it but it just takes that one time to make you wish you didn't.

Nice addition btw, love how the pbass eats!

Yeah do what EK says. I once went to Fish Gallery and got some ghost shrimp. They made my fish sick. I never had any problems with wild caught mosquito fish for some reason.

                  Re: feeding bass

I started with crickets and worked up to pellets on the gar. I'm going to try the same with these.

I love feeding my tank nightcrawlers and superworms... they go absolutely nuts for the stuff!

Post up some pics of your gar! I've been debating them myself since I just parted ways with my Aro but think I'm going to get a group of Aces.

                      feeding bass

                      I miss my bass!

Nice pick up. They grow fast though!

Mine ate frozen shrimp! U have "throw" in the food and make a splash to get their attention. Trick is to throw live food then right after throw n the shrimp or pellet.
