Re: looking for a fresh water stingray

Yup, I think most are, that's why they're still called stingrays and not something more innocuous-sounding. Skates, I don't think are poisonous even though they look a lot a like, but I could be wrong.

It's because they can adapt to the local waters.....and then ruin the eco-system or something like that.

Re: looking for a fresh water stingray

They can also live through our winters without freezing to death just like piranha can...they would also probably like to eat many of our native species and ruin ecosystems... That's not a good thing LOL!!

I would be curious to hear your experience with the rays. I really like them and think it would be an interesting addition to our home but research indicates that this would prove to be a challenging and potentially dangerous endeavor. I'm not sure if this is meant to ba a scare tactic or if rays are really as difficult to maintain as I have read.

                      I know you did.
I was just verifying that it was not an illegal species of Potamotrygon. The stingrays at Extreme are identical to the on the aquabid link.

Today, they had five in stock.

When i was in New Jersey earlier this month the stores there are littered w/ rays & pirana, I
didnt realise that there was so many species.
