Big thanks to Mr. Perkins, owner of Wild Peru, who gave a fantastic presentation at the GHAC meeting and was also kind enough to donate some wild caught Peruvian fish for auction to the club. We were lucky enough to win the auction for the killifish (sorry, Fiona! ) aka: Aphyolebias Rubrocaudatus "Cielo Azul".
We started back up the 6g bowfront softwater for them, with some wood and IAL. Using Brightwell and half RO to start, we have pH at 6.6 or so yesterday.
Here's what it looks like currently:
We put in tons of crypts (bronze and green) to break line of sight, as the male can get a little touchy if his attentions are not reciprocated. So far the male has a favorite spot on the right side of the tank and likes to peek out at us.
We can get him to pose occasionally, he's starting to color up nicely...
The female is a bit more camera shy, excuse the bad pictures please.
In the middle of the tank here...
She sees me-
And SHAZAM! The male comes streaking by...
We're super excited to have these beauties, and look forward to seeing if we can make a love shack for them.
