  • Sphere shaped objects

There is this transparent yellow sphere in my 10 gallon tank dont know if its an egg or not or anything really. 10 gallon tank with a normal light ac 20 filter no substrate. Housed some guppies, nerites, and recently added some baby ocats from petsmart. Two days ago i removed the guppies except for one and today i look in my tank and i see the yellow spheres.

Nerite eggs are my guess. They are brackish water snails so they'll not hatch, but can be scraped off (sometimes requires a razorblade)

But are nerite eggs this big? the biggest one is probably half the size of a BB.

O cat eggs. Told you. Anything can breed at any age. It just depends of they're ready or not. Nerite eggs are white and they are tiny. There's usually a bunch close together. Guppies don't lay eggs. Only thing left is the o cats unless it's not eggs and it's gravel or something like it.

Otocinclus are notoriously difficult to spawn in the best of circumstances. Most never witness it and just notice more then they started with one day. Their very soft acidic water is usually the first hurdle. It could be the case, but with very small ones I think Nerites are the safer bet. If it were otos they should hatch in a few days and can survive off the biofilm already present in the tank. Keep us updated! I am intrigued

I wish my ocats breed, they are so inactive. Sometimes I thought they're dead, then coming down at midnight for water I saw them lurking around.

                    Re: Sphere shaped objects

It can't be nerite eggs. The nerites he had were from Tim and the eggs are bigger than your average nerite egg. Besides it's more of a transparent yellowish egg (like most fish eggs) compared to a white egg.

nope, those are absolutely not nerite eggs, I've seen enough nerite eggs. Hopefully it's Oto... Honestly, I dont have great experience with catfish.. they're cute and stuff but the catfish I got are mostly nite lurkers :(
