Cleaning Holey Rock...

I have yet to power wash my rock that I collected from the trip to Burnett, Tx., but I was at the store and came across this fine steel wire brush cup that attaches to a drill.  Lights went off in my head at that point...it cost like $2 so what the heck, I'll try it.  Usualy you would use a wire brush to get your rocks white, even after bleaching them.

Well I came home last night and decided to see how it would do.  I did a section on a couple of pieces of rock that like I said, are straight from the ground...not cleaned at all.

WOOT :)  I have got to get my tank up and running this weekend and now you made me think wow how nice my rock is going to look after a treatment like yours :)

Make sure you have a face mask or some sort of filter over your mouth/nose.....that stuff could pose a problem or at least be pretty nasty building up.....I am sure in California it cause cancer of some sort.

Yes,  Do this outside in a open area.  I would suggest a mask and glasses.  This process does produce alot of dust.

I plan to do this on a table outside with a fan of some sort to blow the dust away as I'm cleaning the rocks.

It works pretty good though.

So was I...I'm not sure when I will get the time to do it, prolly after the holidays but at least I know I can make quick work of it.

Hrmmm - Thanks Raul - I think you've sparked another idea too...

If I get Walter's stand back to him this weekend, (so I can get to my blast cabinet....) I may change out the media in my blast and try blasting them....  It takes nasty scaly rust off parts with ease, so I imagine a little dirt oughta be a piece of cake for it!

They got a slight rinse a little while ago in the back of the truck cause it sprinkled out.  I'm sure sick of not having daylight in the evenings  :(
