  • Garlic Use in Aquarium?

I heard of feeding puffers food that has been seasoned with garlic. Is it good nutrition for them? Also, does the same rules apply to crustaceans like Crystal shrimps and Saltwater Mantis Shrimp? I mean I feed my dwarf shrimps lettuce and spinach, but does anyone know if it's safe or not to feed them straight up garlic or food seasoned with garlic?

Yes it is safe for them. The best thing would be to mix it with frozen foods or some other type of food. You can feed just garlic as well, but I'm sure if you were to eat just garlic, you'd still be hungry. Either smash it up, grind it, or dice finely. It'll usually entice fish to try the food as they're attracted to how smelly it is. It does the same for fish as it does for people, boost your immune system. It also naturally kills parasites including internal parasites.

I mix diced garlic with tilapia fillet chunks and shrimp chunks. Add a bit of water and mix it up to get the garlic mixed well. I feed my exodons this. Haven't tried feeding to shrimp, but I'd imagine you'll get similar results.
