Old Pool Pump

My brother is about to throw out one of those above ground pools and I was thinking about taking the pump. I know the power consumed by those things is high but was wondering if I could use it randomly for better circulation. I would like to cut down on the vacuuming behind the rocks and DW.
1.5 Amps for an hour a day should be about $3.50 a month in cost. What do y'all think?

it would work but could you do the samething with a powerhead?
