  • Dedication to an Emperor

I just had to start a memorial thread for this little guy. I got 25 adult wild emperor tetras from Charles about a year ago. 19 of those were killed by wild red Peruvian scalare adult angel males in less than 12 hours, along with another 25 rummy nose tetras. The remaining 6 emperors got plagued with that new resistant strain of ich, and 3 of them died from that. Then one unfortunate day last August, I lost 10 silver dollars, 6 wild adult male Geophagus Tapajo red heads, a flash pleco, 2 BN plecos, and 2 remaining emperors after a water change due to high levels of ammonia/chloramines in the tap. After that, I didn't even touch the tank for months. No water changes, nothing... just auto-feeds.

    And then there was one.

This little emperor made it through so much, and today he finally died of old age. He was barely even pale. What a trouper! Here's a pic of the bada** lil fishdude, though it doesn't do any justice to his purples and yellows. RIP.

Thanks guys! First fish I've had die of natural causes in a long time. It takes so much to control all the variables and provide a stable environment in a glass cage.

He will surely be missed! We have one solitary Eques pencil fish in the same boat and I'm sure if we ever found more it would be similar.

Is he in the living room tank by the glass doors? I think I remember seeing that guy!

He has been moved around to nearly all the tanks and has schooled with chili rasbora, and is now with some psuedomugils, lol.
