Most snakes are detured by mothballs, do a little research I'm not sure if this works on water snakes. We had a mess of Garter Snakes inhabit the bottom of our porch years back and mothballs worked like a charm.

+1 put moth balls around the outer perimeter of the pond and it should work.

Get a nice piece of plywood and lay it next to the pond. Put a couple small rocks under it to make it slightly elivated. The water snake should call this home soon and it will be easy to find shoot kill

I would just try and shoot it but being nature where there is one there's more so keep a good eye out for more once you get the first one there's also a powder at home depot called snake away that I've read works never tried it though I just killed the ones I've found

+2 for the moth balls as a deterrent. And +++ to the forceful removal. I use a golf club in areas where gun powder can't be used.

Sprinkle cayenne pepper around it(but make sure it doesn't get in the pond). I live right on a snake infested bayou, and I put it around the fence line. All the neighbors get snakes in there yard but I don't
