Most snakes are detured by mothballs, do a little research I'm not sure if this works on water snakes. We had a mess of Garter Snakes inhabit the bottom of our porch years back and mothballs worked like a charm.Don't tell fish stories where people know you; but particularly, don't tell them where they know the fish.
