things appear to be better, but he really has no more barbs to break so i dont know what hes doing at night.  While i am watching he still goes to the top, but he is not thrashing anymore.  In the past few days I have added stress zyme & Amquel, then added a second air pump, and today did a 50% water change.

That's a step in the right direction, and I'm so glad to hear he's doing better.  :)  

Maybe the barbs will grow back....
