  • My new 125g set up

Started working on everything a few months ago just wanted to post the process and see if anyone has any ideas for maybe a little more landscaping within it and 2-3 more fish. Current livestock is 1 - Oscar, 2 - Green Terrors, 1 - Male/Female Electric Blue pair, 1 Parrot, 4 Yellow Labs, 2 - Orange colored random cichlids, 2 clown loaches, 2 Rhino Plecos, and 1 Frontosa. Kind of a mix of everything lol. Has a Fluval FX5 which has done great job so far. Here is some pics from start to where it is now. Let me know what yall think so far about the tank. Imo get rid of the fake plants and get more holey rock and just scape with the rocks... or maybe a really nice piece of driftwood. I haven't kept cichlids in a long time so not sure how they do with driftwood... but i am partial to real plants!

Really nice construction work. The board is converting my to live plants and after seeing some of their tanks they do add a little something. You can really go anywhere with the cichlids to add, just depends what regions you like. i love your electric blues. You have a good mix and a lot of room for territory

Tank looks nice. Where did you get the background. I think it needs more rocks to match the background.

Its one of those flat 3d rock backgrounds. If u look u close u can see it in one of the build pics sitting next to the car. Depending on the lighting hes using they look different. And the holey rock makes it appear darker as well.

Overall tho man nice tank. I know projects such as that take some time and its an anxious feeling to wana get it done and set up to see how all the hard work payoff.

But yes id agree u need a lil more rock, and stack some to form caves and passage ways for the fish. The feeling of having an over hang ledge really makes fish feel secure and their colors will show it.

Been working on getting more rock and in the newest picture I took I had added two small rocks to form a couple caves, and yes it's just a 3D background I got a great deal on, for the fake plants my girlfriend loves the look of them even though I've told her I want to go the all rock route but we will see in time, but thanks for the feedback I've been a member here for awhile but never really post since I'm fairly new to the hobby
