Anyone here have any experience with climbing perch, Anabas testudineus?
Fondren Fish and Pets has them for 6.99 each. I bought three and they are sharing a 20 gallon tank with some young bichirs and blood parrot cichlids (please don't start the "I hate hybrid cichlids and they should be destroyed" lecture   ). They seem to be doing well so far. I have always seen them in books, but this is the first time I have actually seen them in the flesh.

Oh, neat! Take some pictures of your new ones if you can!

But sorry, no experience on my end with these guys.

I'll need to borrow someone else's camera for a decent pic. They are doing well so far. They are fiesty! They have NO fear of the larger Blood Parrot Cichlids.

          Hi Nick,
Had a pair of them back in the 1960's. Interesting but tough characters - mine grew to about 6-7 inches and attacked anything I put in with them in their "huge" for those days 40 gal. tank.

If I remember correctly, they ate just about anything and looked good but I never got them to breed.

Good luck and I'd love to see  pictures.

Although I don't like reading about experiments where things have to be killed in order to obtain results, here's something I found on the climbing perch. Kinda interesting:
