I will be leaving my cichlids for 10 days and was wanting any advice I could get. Do I need an auto feeder and if so and recommendations for auto feeders for pellet food.

i was going to ask the same question at some point. i usually relied on those gel feeder blocks in the past. my most recent vacation i was gone 10 days and the person caring for pets never touched the food bags i prepared for the fish...so the cichlids all lived 10 days without food, but definitely not what i wanted

Definitely. Especially if you feed them frozen or live protein foods for the few days prior to their "starvation." Also, if you leave the tank dark and lower the temp down to about 76 or so, the theory is that their metabolic rate declines dramatically and less food is required anyway. All bleeding stops eventually...

Oh yeah. I know they can live well over 10 days. I would rather give them something than nothing for that span. They were chasing/nipping at fins more when i returned, then went back to normal and laid back after few days of routine feeding. The auto feeder is an option i wanted to explore too, just didnt know a good recommendation either.

+1 on dry testing how much pellets come out. It would be a huge mess without doing so. I have mine set to a tiny gap for my 10gal one feeding a day. For the 210, I put it to the first slot(?) and I have it rotate twice three times a day. I also taped it to make sure it doesn't change
