  • Feeding Flake Food

Has anyone experienced feeding flake food and it causing issues with their canister filters? I have noticed that when I feed, due to water circulation (power heads) once I put it in the tank, it seems to explode and go everywhere. It clears pretty quickly from the fish eating and I am thinking the filters sucking it up. Is this going to gunk up my canisters pretty quickly? I have been feeding it for about a month and haven't opened one yet to see but I am concerned. I would like to feed pellet but the guy I bought my fish from said being new to the hobby, flake food leaves less room for error in feeding. I decided on the canisters so that it would be less maintenance BUT I am beginning to think this flake is going to change that.

I feed both flake and pellets and as for less room for error not true just start small with the amount you feed and Increase the amount each time till you find the right amount your fish will eat in each setting and as for the flakes blowing apart just shut your powerheads off while feeding and that'll help I've even seen some people shut there wet/dry off as well while feeding

Feeding the fish in my 125, I purchased a ketchup/mustard squirt bottle from the dollar store. I put the flakes in the bottle and add some tank water. I will empty the bottle close to the bottom and I do not have any problems. I have 2 power heads and a wet/dry.
