    Re: Gonopodium, xtra long

LOL! Okay, okay... I guess that's why i don't own any of those long gonopodium strains... LOL!!! I really think it would work though!! LMAO!! I guess I'll never be able to try it though because none of you will sell me a fish ever again after this thread!     But, can you maybe post a pic of these fish?! I just HAVE to see how long is too long!!!

This could be a new sideline for me...my people have a long tradition of doing this.
I could wear a skullcap and a prayer shawl, chant a little Hebrew prayer, and perform the B'ris* on the lucky fish.

LMAO!! Just think how happy it would make the poor fish! I would try it and see what happens! I mean, he isn't getting anywhere with it anyway, why not just TRY to fix it? If it still doesn't let him breed, then you have lost nothing--except for a little piece of his manlyness. LMAO!!!

I'm sure, if you could interview the males, they don't know they aren't getting anywhere...they probably brag to all the other Swords how they really gave it to her, etc. You know how some guys are...even fish gotta get over!
At least, that's what I heard...

                        Re: Gonopodium, xtra long

As PhishPhreek said many fish breeders trim the gonopodium so that the male can use it successfully. After all people are responsible for this lyretail mutant.  It is funny though that most of us don't mind the long fin mutants/cripple fish which can barely swim or let's say glowing zebra fish.

See, EK!! I told ya that trimming it would work!! LOL! I guess that if you are REALLY trying to breed these guys and keep this strain, trimming their gonopodiums would be practical. If you are only using it for a tank ornament and don't really care for babies from them, then leaving them alone would be alright! LOL! I really would like to see some pictures of these guys though! I bet they are some nice looking fish! I guess all of y'all are seeing my agricultural side coming out in this thread. If it don't work, fix it! LOL!

                              Speak for yourself, buddy.
I like Glofish, they do just fine and probably don't mind glowing one bit.
All my fish swim just fine, thank you.
