There are many wonder and horror stories from "mixed cichlid tanks." Petco gets there mixed cichlids like that from a supplier. Honestly, there is no way to say for certain what type of fish he/she is. A good number of them are hybrids.
I'm bad. Most of my African Cichlids came from "mixed cichlids" tanks. But I like them just the same. Not the fish's fault.
I was in know way trying to imply that getting fish out of mixed cichlid tanks is "bad". I have done so as well in the past. There are good AND bad stories that start from mixed cichlid tanks. I am just saying that you will never have a definitive answer as to what type of cichlid you possess when you purchase from that type of tank.
There are some beautiful fish that are hybrids. Some are not so beautiful.
I hope that sxyatsxty1's fish grows into a very pretty looking cichlid.
Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.
