I am switching to seachem safe for my 215 gallon tank. I do weekly water changes probably 30-40 percent. How do you dose the safe? I have been told 1tsp per 200 gallons but should I be dosing for my entire tank or just the water I am adding. It says not to overdose so i am more nervous than I was using prime. Do you just sprinkle in water or do you add to a cup of tank water and pour it in. Thanks

I premix everything in a Rubbermaid trashcan that I only use for water changes. I use prime, stability, and aquarium salt. After letting sit long enough for the salt to dissolve, I then put in tank. I use a submersible pump, I think it's 2700 gph, with a 2" hose. It takes 30 seconds or less to empty the trashcan. I do this twice and my tank is full. Easy as can be... Some people mix chemicals in tank as the tap water is filling up, however my OCD wants to ensure the water is neutralized before I put in my tank.

I add directly to tank prior to filling and have been doing it this way since I started caring for fish 20 plus years ago. I only add for the amount of water I am putting back in the tank. If you add for 200 gallons a full teaspoon it's okay but not necessary and won't hurt your fish. Better to add a bit to much than not enough.

        +1 tblsp for 200g
I do at least 90% water changes in my 150g. I add the amount of Safe for the amount of water I am putting back in. I turn water hose running from outside full blast then come in and dose the Safe.
