your home water may have more ammonia than usual. I myself use python and dose seachem straight into my tank without much problem. How big is your water change?

About 2-3 inches (+/- 10%)
The fish is doing fine now.
The water was a bit cooler than the tank. Should I mix in warm water next time?

I don't think water temp gonna do that much. It has not been that cold lately anyways. You might want to check the dosage of your Prime. I normally let the water run slowly when pumping back into my tank.
