  • Goldfish flukes?

Hey everyone, I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right area but I didn't see anywhere I could post a question about flukes.

I got a new fish today, he was a donation to Petco and he's been there for a good while so I brought him home. At first I didn't notice but his gil looks a little funky. Like it's open somewhat. I think he may have flukes but I'm not sure, I was wondering if I could get some opinions. He's in my 10 gal quarantine tank right now, so I'd like to treat him for disease prevention. Not exactly sure what medication I should give if he does have flukes so maybe you could help? Also, how often do you suggest I change his water until quarantine is over? There is no filter, just an air stone. Here are the best pics I could get of him. Thanks for your help!

    Thank you!

If it is flukes, just dose Paraguard, it will take care of them in no time. Great stuff to have around in any case

        Goldfish flukes?

Thanks for the help! I have been changing his water every day 50% and I couldn't find para guard as suggested, but I'm trying tetra lifeguard, so far he's looking better. I am still not sure if it's flukes or not. It kind of looks like an injury, I took him out and really examined it. I'm going to do a salt treatment after the lifeguard treatment is done, Is that a good idea? Thanks again.

Salt treatment will be fine and hopefully will help. Online is usually always the cheapest option, especially with oddball medicines or specific treatment options. Keep an eye out for pond treatments as well, many are cheaper and give you a lot in case anything else comes up in the future.
