I use my bathtub with air stones and prime for this purpose. I've had my fish in there for about 12 hours when I was setting up my 450. Turn the lights out so they go to sleep.

I just rinsed it well with warm water

Use fresh water to fill up the tub and you can use hot/cold to temp match the tank they're in
