how to keep stupid fish outta filter part 2

hey ok im not havin good luck today.  figured out y my nitrate in the 75g went to poops.  one of my newly aquired kuhlis got into my aquaclear, got stuck and died.  probalby first day.  ok.  well 2 got in there.  but one died the other is ok.  dont know how they got inthe intake cause there not that small but they did.  how can i prevent this from happening?   i alos have a rena xp2 on this tank.  intake is thinner than the aquaclear but what to do.  can i wrap some filter pad around the intake to keep them out? or what ideas?

Put foam over the intake, or buy bigger fish.

lol.  my wife suggested panty hose so im doin that now.  and the biggger fish thing.  come on man. seriuosly.

panty hose works great.....cichlidfan and i did that to the kenyi tank for the little bitty babies.....it works man.....but you have to clean it alot until they get big enough not to get caught in there.....

yeah. the kuhlis are small but not that small.  the aquaclear 110 and the rena xp2 keep tank clean as hell but might be alittle much still for them.  but they will get big enough to stay out.  givem a month or so.  i put hose over both intakes.  and i turned the aquaclear down a little.

today it doesnt appear that i am. lol. man. i got more problems today then i have all month. lol.  i dot a blueberry african that just got beat up by an orange one that is makein a nest to have some babys.  now i gotta catch him cause his tail fin is tore up.  just hapend like 5 minutes ago.  man.  pissn me off todya anyone want everything come get it. lol jjk

I recently had a river eel that killed himself by the impeller in the Tetratec filter. I think he slithered up the exhaust. Not a pretty sight . There is now a conical worm feeder covering the exhaust to prevent the second eel from being filleted.

well one drowned and the other is ok.  he swam off when i got him out.  but the other one had been in there all day.   i got panty hose now.  they look SEXY. lol.  ill do that for a while till they get a touch bigger.
