  • Albino BN Story

I had forgotten all about the baby albino Bristle Nose that loretta, eh...fishlady, had given me a few months ago. I think it came from BrownsoutUK, anywho, I was tearing down my 70 show tank for a friend here on the box, and I had placed my emperor 280 on a bucket and set it aside for a few days while I took care of more important things. Last night, I decided to set up the replacement tank where the 70 tall had been and I started to clean out the emperor 280 after 5 or 6 days.

Well, after running hot and cold water both over the emp and all the scrubbin and poking and proding in the HOB, I finally discovered I had a stow a way on the grey media cartridge inside the emperor. That's right, the tiny little bristle nose was inside the emperor. He fell off the cartridge when I pulled it out of the emp, and I was sure he was dead. It had sat in my den for days and then all the hot water and all, I just knew he was toast, well, I went to pick him up and toss him in the trash and the little booger, (who was twice as big now) scurried away from me in the sink. I was finally able to catch him and placed him in my 125 community tank, where he is happy as can be now.

I'll get a picture of the lucky lilttle booger tonight.

NICE! glad to hear he lived. Back when I had my puffer, I came home from work one day to find him on the floor all dried up (he was about 10.5" at the time) Anyway, I looked around the room for evidence as to what could have happened only to find a ton of cat hair on top of the lids/light so I knew he must have startled him somehow. By instinct, I picked the puffer up and tossed him in the water 99% sure that he was dead. Stepped out of the room for a minute to deliver the news to my girlfriend (this was her favorite fish at that time) and came back not 5 minutes later to find him swimming around again like nothing happend. I couldn't believe my eyes.  8O

Glad to hear a happy ending!  They sure can get into the darndest of places!
Just the other day I got lucky when one of my little horseface loaches jumped.  He landed in a tank sitting on the floor that I had recently emptied but still had a little bit of water/sand in it.  No idea how long he laid in the damp sand before I found him but it couldn't have been more than a day!
