  • Big fish

here's a question if the tank is big enough and you only putting in big predatory fish can you just simply add other big fish to the tank?

like the tank is about 5 or 6 hundred gallons and it has three big fish can I simply just add more big fish without worry of them getting killed off?

You always need to look into compatibility between your choices. No tank is safe from aggression

Agree, it depends on the species and their particular requirements. Many large predatory fish ignore fish that are too large to be a meal, but that is not always the case. Large puffers are notorious for shredding and killing tankmates. Certain fish react aggressively towards similar fish, such as a cornish jack (Mormyrid) and an Aba Aba (Gymnarchus) as they both utilize weak electrical fields for location and sensing their environment. There are a myriad of details that can be accidentally overlooked or missed. Whimple Phiranha are consumate scale eaters, while large Panaque plecos starve slowly without large amounts of driftwood in their diet so there are a number of issues that must be considered and researched prior to adding large tankmates to extremely large systems.
