Hello guys, I am new to aquarium thing. I have a 125g with about 30 geos, 2 severums, some corys and loach. What kind of live plants can I use and can I add some electric blue or borleyi or peacocks with this group of fish? If not, what other shinny vibrant color fish can I add? Thank you for the feedback.

I'd advise steering clear of mixing any Africans with that bunch, as the Africans will most likely destroy your fish. You could always look into some tetra or rasbora species to fill the tank and give some shine. You should be able to get away with most plants. Some easy to find and keep options would be Java Ferns, Anubias, Vallisneria, some Crypts, and more

Thanks Austy. Anyone bringing any of these to this months auction? Or selling any of these now? Thanks

As a keeper of geos, I would only recommend java fern or anubis. Something you can attach to driftwood. Anything else they will uproot. Mine even ate the anubis attached to the driftwood. I do strictly a hardscape with them. You can add fake plants if your looking for some greenery. What geos do you keep?

I can't imagine that there wouldn't be some java ferns or anubias at the auction, they're about as common as it gets in the hobby

+1 on NO African cichlids. I think the Geo could be plenty of color by themselves. Red and Gold severum are good mix with the Geo.

You no mix a da African cichalids wit da new woild cichalids! Unnastand? Africans would upset the geos and severums and possibly eventually kill them. But sounds like you got a nice mix going already. Severums are colorful and peaceful and whatever geos you have will develop nice colors too. New World cichlids mostly aren't as bright and dramatic as some of the Africans but they have their own subtle colors and beauty. Go with some of the fish and plants these other guys are recommending and you will have a sweet tank.

How about discus? Their color is exceptionally vibrant (with the right lighting off course).

+2! Don't add Africans if you value your Geos.

I love and have them for a while. I would add some Geo family but not add another kind fish to the tank because Geo family have their own beauty of their color, relaxing and kind fish but they are active ( not like Discus beauty but slow swim). I see you have 30 Geo in 125gal and I think they are in small size, I would wait until the 7 to 8 inch and you will truly in love with their color and no more room to add another fish in the tank . On plant , they will pick them up and it will gone mostly I would do face plant add to tank make it look nicer ( you can buy at Hobby Lobby) . just let us what kind you have or pictures and we can help you if you want add some another Geo family.

Maybe my lighting is not bright enough for their color to show

Or maybe I'll just need to replace my black sand to white sand.
