    Re: coral cleaning

well, that goes to show you how much I know..... I thought the coral looked nice..... just dirty.... so is it like putting mud tires on a corvette?     mixing coral with fresh water fish?
Had about 900 gallons now I am tired and selling them off...

What are you talking about..... mud tires on a vette looks cool with the right lift!!!!  The holey rock isn't really specific to the fish that everyone on here keeps either, it's just what everyone is using these days because the fish like with all the hiding places that if offers.

Instead of using bleach you could use oxyclean. It's not as toxic to the fish in the event that it's not rinsed well enough.

Hey , hanson... just re-read the post.... the coral is real.... not plastic.... stuff is like handling razor blades.... so not sure if that makes a difference or not on the cleaning..... it is real... like a rock.... I do have one piece that is like lava rock.... very light when dry...

Yeah, then a light bleach solution should do your trick.  But since it is, it will soak up anything that you clean it with.  So leaving it in the sun to dry completely is a must.  I have never seen anyone use any type of coral for a freswhater set-up is what threw me.  I figure it was just the fake stuff that you can buy if you want the look without the hassle of real stuff.
