I have a 90g tank with a 20g tank as a sump. I used PVC for all the plumbing, polycarbonate to make chambers, etc. I have ball valves for controlling as well as limiting the flow.
The other day my power went out and I had to re-prime the output line. I had an idea and wanted to know if anyone has tried this, thought of it, or successfully build it.
I have 1 inch line coming out of the tank so I have PLENTY of flow. I have a 1.5 inch ball valve on the line to shut off the flow when I'm changing water. This way I don't have to reprime. I have another 1.5 inch ball that I use to meter the flow. I'd like to replace the shut-off valve with some sort of electrically operated valve that shuts off the flow in case of a power outage. Everything I've seen thus far is metal, which I understand is bad for tank plumbing.
