  • Starting another 55 gallon to replace my main tank

I've gotten tired of messing with my main tank trying to get things right with it. To start off the PFS I used as my substrate has been killing off most of the plants I've tried with it. The only plant I have that seems to be doing well is my Java Moss since it's not in the substrate. The tank has scratches all over it and I've decided I want a sump instead of a canister filter. Instead of making a temporary tank to house my fish while I change out the substrate, drill bulkheads, install a overflow box, and wait till the tank cycles I would wait till Petco runs another dollar per gallon sale and pick a new 55 gallon up. Well this Sunday my local Petco starts the dollar per gallon sale so I got on the ball ordering the supplies I need to get it up and going. I just bought a Eheim Compact+ 2000 pump, 77lbs of Seachem Flourite Substrate, a 2,400GPH 18" across Overflow Box, and 2-1" Bulkheads. I already picked up my Sump from the last Fish Auction that Texas Aquatics hosted and cleaned everything up to get it ready to go. I will post pics of this new tank to let everyone know how it's going. Once my cycle finishes I will start adding my fish in a little at a time.

      How much was your sump?
Where did you get it? Was there bigger ones?
      It looks real nice.

I actually picked it up at the Texas Aquatics Auction they had a few weeks back for $60.00. Before I picked this one up and after doing some extensive searching for a good quality inexpensive sump that would fit under my tank I found this http://www.windridercreation.com/aqua-filters.html. If the auction didn't have a sump I needed then I was going to order one from them but luckily I found the one I needed.

There were a ton of sumps and protein skimmers at the auction.
