  • Green Puffer compatibility ?

I just got 2 green puffers from someone who was concerned they would be too aggressive for her tank .
I have several tanks ;most over-run with snails so I thought I could use the puffers to get rid of snails. But what fish can I leave with the puffers ?
They are slightly less than 1.5" long. Now they are with 2.5" pleco and 2" long angels. How about lemon ,black, and rummy nose tetras?

If you are talking about the green spotted puffers they are very agressive. And they are brackish water fish when they are smaller. Once they get larger about 3"-4" they will need to be moved to full marine. If you want to put them with other fish be prepared to find them missing. Also they need to be fed hard shell foods to keep their teeth worn down. Like snails (not malaysian trumpet snails), shrimp with the shell on, clams on the half shell or mussles. Also they eat bloodworms, mealworms but not krill. Krill will give them lock jaw over time. They will get up to 6" and require 30 gallons per fish. They are very messey eaters and require large weekly water changes to keep the nitrates down. They are very sensitive to bad water. Sorry for the rambling. I have two of these little fellows and the only other fish I have with them are larger puffers. They are fin nippers.

Thanks, I guess they will be at the next auction. In a few hours I could not see any snails in a 40, so I moved them to a 75.
I am hoping they will be busy enough with the snails to leave fish alone, for a while.
Most of my water is soft and acidic , but I have a alkaline 55 to park them in.
Most of my snails are what I call Malaysian live bearers; they seem to eat them.

Yes it's very true. You can give them krill on ocassion but not as a main food. I don't know the specifics but I have read several articles about it.
