Angels and Platies

Can the two be kept together in a very large tank? Need some color and like platies. I know the angels will eat the platy fry. I am primarily interested if the platies will nip the angels or generally harass them enough that they will stress out and get sick. Does it matter if the platies are male or female? Unfortunately, I have watched male swords and male mollies really get after pretty large angelfish.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated....I am just trying to avoid losing angels on a bad call on the platies.
