    Sweet :)

Are you going to be able to get some pictures of the fry, fish etc....
If no one has asked are you going to try and make it to next Friday's GHAC meeting ?  We would love to see you there :)
See the section on the forum about the Greater Houston Aquarium Club -- and meeting place :)

You have a sweet looking tank :)

I hope 2 tanks are connected somehow, otherwise, the fish will be lonely and has limited space compare to his other neighbors. Great decoration though.

What size is the tank on the bottom? (Don't think they're too lonely, seeing as they just had babies...)  8)

Oh, and I love the setup! Great job!

Not knowing exactly what kind it is, most Malawi cichlids holds their eggs for somewhere between 21-25 days.  Tanganyika fish are around 23-27 days on average...

The Female will spit at like I said somewhere between 21-28 days depending on what species and when she cannot hold them anymore.  By then the egg yolk has disappeared from the young and they can live on their own.  They have for the last few days before she releases been filter feeding on the water coming into her mouth.  If you notice shortly before she spits they will start moving around her mouth and usually you will see one or two young get released first (to make room) and then around 24-48 hours afterwards she will spit the rest.  Some females (again species too) will allow the young to return to her mouth for a few days, while others are "once released you are on your own youngen"

Like Scott reported in another post...  move mom to her own tank around the 17-20 day mark.. let her spit the week following that and then remove her while she no young in her mouth back to the main tank again.

Aquashelle :)  I went to T&T Fish and Reptile on Hwy6 and they had a tank full for sale there :)  They are some really nice looking fish -- I have to agree with you :) I am personally no longer into SA's but if I was those would be a nice pair to have in a tank
