Has anyone here bought fish from aqaubid?  Are the people putting fish up for bid typically private breeders?  I have my eye on some fish there, and the prices seem too good to be true!

All the sellers I have bought from are private breeders, but there are some international sellers as well, especially in the Betta categories.  Check the location where the seller is located, foreign sellers will often use a transhipper located in the US. Always check the shipping cost as that does add substantially to the final price and do your best to stay with establised sellers with a good feedback rating.  My experiences have all been positive.  I received a dozen Zebra angelfish a couple of weeks ago that have excellent finage, perfect stripes and were very healthy as well.

I ahve bought fish successfully from Aquabid. I too stick to names that I ahve seen there for a while with good reputations. I usually avoid foreign sellers just because of the extra buggering around that involves.

I to have bought fish through Aqua-Bid, no problems.  Just keep in mind the shipping cost!!!  Good luck

I have been buying fish from aquabid and paying with my paypal account for about 4 years.
I have only had 1 bad experience and when I checked the seller already had some "bad" feedback.

Some of the sellers are importers, and you need to check their feedback and live delivery guarantees, but most are breeders and the stock is healthy & well packed.   I always check their other auctions so I can increase my order / make it large enough to justify the shipping cost.  Most of the sellers will work with you to do a "full box" order.  Make sure the boxes are insulated in the summer and have heat packs in the winter.

I only had one bad experience, but at least it was only a $12.00 transaction. Otherwise I have had good experiences. I have gotten snails, clams, goodieds, madtom catfish and fish food successfully from aquabid. I'd beware of listings that do not post shipping costs up front.

I have bought from there......some are breeders, some selling off stock and some are retailers.

My bad experience was about $600..............thank god for good credit card companies!

I have been buying and selling on AB for years.
Be sure to look at the seller's feedback and go onto the AB forums to see if there are any red flags on the seller.
I recommend paying by paypal or by credit card. That way if something goes wrong, you can get your money back.
