As far as I know, they pretty much don't need any coaxing. Do you have them in a tank by themselves? If so, just gather together a group of them, so the odds are in your favor that you have both males and females, and just let them go. The females should carry the young (eggs)underneath them until they are large enough to fend for themselves. I think the biggest concerns are the babies themselves, so it's important to keep a shrimp-only tank. Otherwise, as long as they have food small enough for them, I'm sure you can get quite a large group in a short time.

I've never bred any of them, but someone else here might have, and will probably have more specific info. :)

How big was the tank? What kind of filtration did it have? Did you have any live plants? Did you ever see a female with eggs?

to my knowledge ghost shrimp like a brackish tank, because their larva are free floating (i believe) and the young won't survive without some level of salinity, no other shrimp like cherry shrimp, tiger shrimp and crystal red shrimp have completely supressed life stages, meaning that the eggs become baby whole shrimp just really small, life plants wuld be recommended for any kind of freshwater shrimp, java moss does ok with salt in the water so does java fern and most anubias.

Raising the fry, is extremely difficult if not impossible for most. They will need very specific tiny foods, like protazoa and rotifers, that can only be obtained from specialists (marine specialists are best). The newly hatched fry can also be so small they are almost, if not totally, invisible to the eye.

I don't know from experience but I've been told that the white manure from chickens disolved in water, makes an excelent feed for brine shrimp.

I started with 12 ghost shrimp in a 75 planted tank with other fish in January. Gave away as many as I could catch in February, and have about 2-3 dozen in my tank now. My tank has lots of java & christmas moss, along with other plants and lots of places to hide. I see female GS with a clutch of eggs about every 2-3 weeks. I'm now trying to raise them, it just happens. I have well water and do a 30% change every 3 weeks on average. My temp stay about 78. I think the moss is the biggest factor in their survival in my tank.

what type of filter are you useing

I'm using a Fluval 404 canister filter. I also run a power head all the time in the tank.
