How many have their aquarium directly in front of windows or  near a window?

    Re: Aquarium near windows

Why do you ask?  I have two in front of Windows.

I used to have my 40 breeder in front of a window. Are you worried about temp change or algae growth?

We've got 2 directly in front of windows.  Haven't seen anything different with these tanks compared to the ones not in front of windows.  However, we have 2 other tanks directly in the line of sunlight that comes through a skylight in the mornings.  We have patches of algae that grow right where the sunlight tracks through.

All of mine are near a window.  It makes it easier to do water changes.

                  Are the windows double paned?

I don't think you'll have problem with heat - especially if you put a background or something on the aquarium.

Our 55 is setup right up against a window on the side of the house that gets direct sunlight all afternoon.  We've also been experimenting with cranking up the a/c during the day so we no longer have it so cold in the house all the time.  The warmest the water has been in that tank was 85 degrees, and that was when I was playing with having the drapes open.  I really think you'd be fine.
